The Cliffs
Montaña de Oro State Park
This local gem is tucked away just south of the town of Los Osos. Rugged shorelines, eucalyptus groves, and epic cliffs of sand spill into the misty waters. Enjoy hikes, walks, surfing, and endless exploration in this 8,000+ acre State Park, one of California’s largest.
The Rock
Morro Strand State Beach
Morro Rock rises dramatically from the Pacific, standing as a symbol of the Central Coast and marking the divide of land and sea. This three mile stretch of beach provides ample room to stretch out and bathe in the sun as waves pound the shore and the majestic rock towers in the distance. Explore the sand dunes, search for sand dollars, and play in the surf.

Oceano Dunes
A landscape removed from time, Oceano Dunes is a sprawling 4,800 acres expanse of rolling sand dunes that stretches over 8 miles of shoreline. The sheer size of this area allows for a variety of adventures and ways to explore. Traverse the endless sand on foot, drive the beach with a 4×4, or rent an ATV for maximum utility and adrenaline.
Into The Hills
The hills beyond the coast offer a quieter kind of escape, with winding trails, oak-covered ridgelines, and panoramic views that stretch far beyond the horizon. These are places to slow down, wander, and reconnect with the landscape.

The Summit
Bishop Peak
The tallest of the mythical Nine Sisters of SLO, Bishop Peak is an ancient volcanic plug, an erosion resistant rock formation that is the remnant of once active volcanoes. Bishop Peak’s summit offers awe-inspiring, panoramic views that stretch from the Pacific to the hills east of SLO. With varied terrain, this 3-4 mile round trip hike is perfect for the casual hiker, or the seasoned trail runner.
The Hidden Forest
Los Osos Oaks State Natural Reserve
An often overlooked gem, this reserve is situated inside an enchanting oak forest. The hikes here are not perilous or long, but lead into the heart of this ancient forest filled with twisting trunks and Spanish Moss. An enchanting landscape like no other in the area, this secret grove is a must for any guest who loves the feeling of being lost in the woods.
Backyard Views
Eagle Rock
Standing like a guardian above Nightsky, Eagle Rock sits right in our back yard – no car needed. Climb up this 2.5 mile trail to find sweeping views of the Chorro Valley all the way out to the sea. This vantage point gives you the best understanding of the sheer scale of Nightsky’s property and the abundance that surrounds it. Watch the sun glint off the peaks of the Nine Sisters at sunrise, or watch as the last rays fade over the Pacific at the end of the day.

The small cities and towns along the Central Coast move at their own pace, featuring walkable streets and a sophisticated local food and beverage scene with local cafés, tasting rooms, and hidden favorites tucked between the hills and shoreline.

The Town
Downtown San Luis Obispo
San Luis Obispo is a college town at heart, anchored by Cal Poly and its vibrant student culture. Yet the city maintains a relaxed, idealistic Californian pace that keeps it from ever feeling like a typical party town. Wander the walkable grid of downtown, where tree lined streets are full with independent shops, restaurants, and welcoming locals. Every Thursday evening, the famed Farmers’ Market – really more of a street festival – brings the city together, drawing thousands to browse local food, produce, and artisan goods.
The Coastline
Cambria
A short but beautiful 30 minute drive up the coast from Nightsky, Cambria is one of the Central Coast’s most charming seaside towns. Its proximity to Hearst Castle has brought visitors here for generations, yet the town has retained its quiet character and coastal charm. Walk the boardwalk along Moonstone Beach, explore the shops and galleries in town, and enjoy some of the finest food along the coast.
The Vineyards
Paso Robles
California’s fastest growing wine region, Paso Robles offers a chance to experience world class wine country without the crowds (or tasting fees) of Napa or Sonoma. Natural wine lovers will feel at home here, as regenerative farming and low intervention wines are produced in abundance. Michelin-recognized dining, a charming downtown, and a wide range of AVAs await just up the road from Nightsky.

This seaside restaurant has a local reputation for providing the best seafood in the area. Line up before opening with the local crowd, or get your name on the waitlist and wander Moonstone Beach at sunset while you wait for your table.
